This tribe was started in November and yet no one has posted a topic yet? Ok... I'll bite... How 'bout...
In what area do each of you specialize? I, myself, work in fossil prep and love it. I've been fortunate enough to work on some incredible pieces, including two 'new' animals (one from Egypt and one from Montana).
What about you?

Re: Where is everybody???
Mon, January 12, 2004 - 9:49 AMThis may seem odd, coming from the guy who started the tribe and all, but I don't specialize in anything! I'm a writer and filmmaker who happens to be a paleo-nerd. It's a dream of mine to make a new version of Doyle's The Lost World...
I just saw that there wasn't a paleo tribe, and felt the world would be a better place if there were one....
Everyone post, dangit!

Re: Where is everybody???
Mon, January 12, 2004 - 12:30 PMYou're RIGHT! The world would be a MUCH better place if there were more paleo-geeks about... wait a minute... NO. I take that back. It's better that we are in a singularly select group of nerds who love those cuddley critters and crustaceans long dead and gone cause it's soooooooooooo much more fun to have all the dino-hunting glory all to ourselves... No? Just a thought... :o)
Now, as Shannon said: POST, Dangit!

Re: Where is everybody???
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 5:31 PMOMG! That's so true. I actually find it kinda humorous to watch some of those shows.... well... the ones that I'm not screaming "No no no! IMPOSSIBLE! That's sooooooooooooo WRONG" at the top of my lungs, that is. -

Re: Where is everybody???
Mon, January 26, 2004 - 2:47 PMThe shows are especially fun to watch when tanked.
Gah, all they're doing lately is slapping feathers onto any biped! They need to cop to the shortcomings of morphological classification. -

Re: Where is everybody???
Mon, January 26, 2004 - 7:10 PMI'm an amature paleo-anthro geek, also. If I had a specialty, it would be in being a mediator between the professionals and the popular science crowd. I once compiled a bunch of info gleaned from various sources and created a website which gave abstracts on every known member of the hominid family tree, along with probable relationships. I couldn't find this kind of listing, graph, chart or whatnot anywhere, so I made one myself. I'm up to like 2 million hits in the six years its been up. -

Re: Where is everybody???
Thu, January 29, 2004 - 6:57 PM... A secret.
It's very outdated, even though I promised to update it in 1999, and it has some known errors, and isn't written to my best standards. I'd structure it differently now. However I did note that by googling me I found myself cited by some french guy in his thesis. Just goes to show. -

Wed, March 17, 2004 - 8:58 PMI'm an anomaly fan. Like the discovery of suposed human bones found in shale deposits. Have you ever seen those strange skulls from South America that are conehead shaped ? I like ancient wierd stuff.
