I have always had an interest in this field, and I am just wondering what schooling is needed.

Re: interest in paleontology
Mon, January 26, 2004 - 8:25 PMWelp... first one needs to get into a good school. Are ya willing to travel?
Getting an internship or joining an Undergraduate Research Program at a museum that has a paleontology program will help you get into a good school. Or at least they'll know you have a genuine interest. Plus, this is a great way to test yourself and your commitment to the field.
Ok, so assuming you get accepted to a great school... then you'll have to choose your majors in biology & geology. After years of classes (and a PhD on your wall), you'll be a paleontologist.
There is just tons and tons of things to learn. A great place to start is right here on the internet. It's free and no one grades you. Do some amateur stuff. Get out there and discover. See if you REALLY want to pursue this... then have at it! :o) -
